Landfill operations
01 · The urgency

Our landfills are filling up. Our resources are being buried.

Malaysia cannot keep relying on disposal as the default destination for waste. We need to prevent waste, recover valuable materials and reduce our dependence on landfill.

03 · National ambition

The direction is clear. Now we must turn ambition into action.

Malaysia’s Circular Economy Blueprint sets a national direction to minimise waste, maximise resource efficiency and transform solid waste management into a circular economy by 2050.

The next step is implementation — across government, businesses, communities and the waste recovery sector.

04 · Why ZWTL matters

Three ideas. One movement.

Waste is a resource.

Recover materials that can re-enter the value chain.

Progress must be measurable.

Track what is generated, recovered and sent for disposal.

Collaboration makes change possible.

Connect waste generators with suitable collection and recovery partners.

05 · The ZWTL ecosystem & tools

How the parts connect.

The programme supports organisations to establish a waste baseline, report performance, work with eligible recovery partners and document evidence of progress.

01

Waste generators

Commit, set a baseline and segregate.

02

ZWTL Digital Platform

Request collections and report performance.

03

Collection & recovery partners

Collect, recover and record treatment.

04

Evidence, reporting & improvement

Document progress and keep improving.

06 · Pledge signatories & partners

The organisations leading the way.

08 · About ZWTL

Commitments into practical action.

Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL) is a collaborative programme designed to help organisations improve waste management practices, reduce reliance on landfill disposal and demonstrate measurable progress towards a more circular economy.

Through the ZWTL Pledge, digital reporting, collaboration with waste recovery partners and applicable independent verification, the initiative aims to turn waste commitments into practical action.

The programme is supported by Control Union Malaysia, bringing experience in sustainability, certification and assurance to the development of a more transparent and accountable waste management ecosystem.

Supported by Control Union

The future of waste starts with what we do today.

Landfill capacity is finite. Resources have value. Meaningful change requires all of us to act.

AWARE. COMMIT. TRANSFORM. CERTIFY.
